I am pleased to announce that I will be providing holistic psychiatry services at the Amen Clinic in Reston, Virginia. I will be on site there on Thursday and Friday of each week beginning in July 2009. Daniel Amen, M.D. is a man with great vision who has dedicated his psychiatric career to improving the field of psychiatry. Currently, psychiatry is the only profession that does no medical imaging of their "organ system." So Dr. Amen developed a way to bring psychiatry in line with the rest of medicine.
Dr. Amen has used the nuclear medicine study, called SPECT scans, to do the imaging of the brain. As a result of his thousands of scans, he has identified sub-types of anxiety, depression and ADD/ADHD. From these subtypes he is able to identify what treatment will be most effective.
What I find really amazing is that Dr. Amen also recognizes the value of good dietary nutrition and the use of nutritional supplementation in the treatment of these common ailments.
So we share a great deal in common!
For those of you wondering why my office is no longer open on Thursday and Friday it is because I will be at the Amen Clinic on those days.
I will still be providing services in my current office Monday through Wednesday of each week. Please check with Becky to make an appointment.
