The Hinz Nutritional Approach for the Treatment of Depression

Many patients are looking for alternative ways to approach the treatment of their depression, anxiety or ADHD other than the use of medication.  Medication is hard to come off of and often has unwanted side effects.  Additionally, medication is not always effective at resolving symptoms or may stop working after a time.

As a board certified psychiatrist interested in nutritional approaches, I am always looking for ways to treat these conditions that will be effective and safe.  Dr. Marty Hinz has developed a protocol which uses the amino acids, 5HTP, tyrosine and L-Dopa.  These amino acids are precursors to serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine, the neurotransmitters necessary for emotional health.  Using these amino acid precursors Dr. Hinz developed a protocol to effectively and safely treat depression, anxiety and ADHD.  Dr. Hinz developed his protocol initially to improve the treatment of obesity and discovered that he was also treating depression, anxiety and ADHD!  He has thousands of patients through various clinics across the United States and was able to use statistical analysis to identify the protocol most effective for 80% of people.  For the other 20% we can customize and individualize the treatment by using a urine test to identify the exact amount of amino acids you need.

I had the opportunity to train with Dr. Hinz in seminar and utilize his protocol in the office as appropriate. You can learn more about Dr. Hinz and his research by visiting his website at www.neuroassist.com.
